AMARILLO – Early Saturday morning, Amarillo Police responded to a burglary in progress at a business in the 3100 block of Amarillo Blvd East.
While on the way, dispatch advised Amarillo Police that an employee of the business had caught someone breaking in and they were detaining them at gunpoint.
On arrival, an employee told police that in the past few weeks the business was broken into several times. Different employees have taken turns staying in the business overnight.
The employee stated that he heard some noises coming from the shop area, and he grabbed a semi-auto rifle and went to investigate. The employee found 38-year-old Christopher Lee Yarbrough attempting to steal a five rims and a lawnmower from the business.
The employee caught the suspect and held him at gunpoint until officers could arrive.
During the investigation, police found the hole the suspect had cut in the fence and attempting to take the wheels and lawnmower out through the hole in the fence.
Yarbrough was booked into jail on a charge of Burglary of a Building.
