AMARILLO – Early Friday morning, Amarillo Police checked the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn at 2108 S. Coulter.

An officer watched a vehicle go through the parking lot and stop behind a silver pickup parked on the parking lot.  The officer watched a man carry an ice chest away from the pickup.

The man that had been driving the Cadillac placed the ice chest in the back seat of his vehicle.  Officers detained the suspect.

Police contacted the hotel guest that owned the silver pickup.  They learned that the suspect had stolen the ice chest from the bed of the pickup.

The officers booked 58-year-old Earman Eugene Gilbreath into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of burglary of a vehicle with two or more previous convictions.
