Amarillo Police Arrest Burglary Suspect

AMARILLO -- Thursday night around 11:30 p.m., Amarillo Police were sent to a home in the 5700 block of Coral Circle on a burglary in progress.
The victim told police she heard a loud noise and the suspect, Esias Zachary Orozco, 18, had broken a window and entered the sun room of the home. Orozco reportedly yelled at the homeowner and tried to enter the main part of the house.
After officers arrived, they found Orozco in the back yard. Orozco tried to get over a fence into the yard next door but officer pulled him from the fence. Orozco resisted arrest and an officer used pepper spray on the man, but the officer needed backup to bring Orozco into custody.
After being handcuffed and placed in a patrol car, Orozco slipped the handcuffs in front of his body and tried to push down the window of the patrol car. Officers then had to take him out of the patrol car to secure him. He again resisted, and officers had to use a TASER to allow them to control and re-secure him. During the arrest, the man bit an officer on the forearm deeply enough to require medical attention.
Due to the suspects behavior, officers took Orozco to the hospital to be medically cleared before he was booked into the Randall County Jail for burglary of a habitation, assault on a public servant, and resisting arrest.
