A fire burns a downtown Amarillo building to the ground.

It started just before 5:00 p.m on February 23 in a warehouse at the corner of 1st and Tyler.

Officials with the Amarillo Fire Department say heavy smoke and flames were visible when they arrived.

The fire was contained to the original building, but another building close by did have smoke damage.

The original warehouse is being called a total loss.

10 fire units in all responded.

The fire is still under investigation.
