A Marine's Homecoming

It's the third deployment for Gunnery Sergeant Francisco Lopez.

But the familiarity doesn't make the time apart any easier for him and his family.

After a 10 month deployment, today that period of sadness ended with his return to the High Plains.

You can sense and see that family is important to the Lopez's.

From the arrival at the airport to the celebration at Texas Roadhouse.

Gunnery Sergeant Francisco Lopez was constantly surrounded by loved ones.

Even during all of the interviews but he's back, for the third time.

"I want to say it's a little bit harder. The kids are getting older, they understand a little bit better but, you know of course everytime it's just as hard to leave the family as it was the very first time," said GySgt Francisco Lopez, home from 10-month deployment.

His flight came earlier than expected and his wife says that's when nervousness kicked in.

But she says that all changed when she saw him walking out.

"Oh my goodness, like, I just want my kids to run and jump on dad. But we can't cross that line. And then when she realized what was going on and the shirts that we had on and that he was military and realized that he was coming home, she was like go. Go cross that line so that was pretty exciting," said Heather Lopez, Wife.

The first two deployments, the little Lopez's Cienna and Damion were too young to remember.

Or in Cienna's case not even born yet.

But this one is sure to be unforgettable.

"More so than me jumping in his arms giving him that first hug and kiss it's more exciting to see the kids and that love that they had for their dad," said Lopez.

There's no word on when he's set to deploy again.

But right now, he's got some catching up to do....10 months worth.

For 10-year-old Cienna, father's day was tough.

But she says her birthday was especially difficult.

That's because she shares the same birthday as her dad.

Gunnery Sergeant Lopez has served in the United States Marine Corp for 16 years.

During this deployment, he was stationed in the Republic of Georgia, where they assisted the Georgian Army for a Deployment to Afghanistan.
