AMARILLO -- Police make a number of arrests for people racing in Amarillo.

19-year-old Cody Pownell, 33-year-old Rigoberto Mendoza are both in the Potter County Jail and 40-year-old Matthew Gardner is in the Randall County Jail.

It was on Friday that officers say they saw Pownell racing another vehicle on Bell Street close to the Boulevard.

He is charged with racing and minor in consumption.

Then Monday morning police say they saw two vehicles racing close to Grand and the Boulevard. Mendoza tried to get away from police.

They eventually arrested him and charged him with evading arrest and racing among other charges.

And then Monday night, police say they saw two motorcycles racing on 58th street near the Canyon E-Way.

One driver wrecked and was taken to the hospital and hasn't been charged.

Gardner is charged for racing.
