23 Texas Panhandle Counties Reporting the Flu

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) released their latest surveillance report on the Flu in Texas.

The last week reported is for December 31, 2017 through January 6, 2018.

DSHS reported that the flu activity has increased in the Amarillo Health Service Region (Health Service Region 1).

Texas Public Health Laboratories are reporting that Flu A (H1N1), Flu A (H3N2), Flu A (not subtyped), Flu B (Yamagata) and other forms of the flu are being reported across the state.

The DSHS is also reporting that 1,155 people have died from Pneumonia and influenza this year.  48 of those deaths were in our region.
