2 Amarillo Firefighters Going to Victoria to Help With Hurricane Harvey Preparation

The Amarillo Fire Department has sent two of its firefighters to Victoria as part of a state-wide All Hazards Incident Management Response Team in preparation for Hurricane Harvey.

The hurricane is expected to make landfall this weekend.

Amarillo Fire Department is sending two specially trained members, one lieutenant and one captain. The duo will be functioning as Resource Unit Leaders. They will help develop plans for continued operations & recovery efforts for areas affected by the hurricane.

First responders with specialized Incident Management training are being deployed from all over the state to assist with these efforts, as damage from the storm is expected to be severe along the Texas coast line.

All agencies sending resources to assist in this effort will be reimbursed their expenses by the Texas Department of Emergency Management.
