Hiring continued at a modest pace last month.

That's the word from payroll processing firm, ADP today ahead of the government's monthly jobs report due Friday.

They say businesses added 176,000 jobs in August.

That's number is down from 198,000 jobs in July, but was on track with economists' expectations.

They say most of the jobs were created in medium-sized businesses and the most jobs were added in trade, transportation and utility companies.
