15th Annual Sporting Clays Classic Continues Today

The Golden Spread Council, Boy Scouts of America is hosting the second day of its 15th Annual Sporting Clay Classic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

The Tournament will be held at the Camp Don Harrington’s Sporting Clays Range.

The Sporting Clays Classic will be a team event, with 4 shooters to a team. Each shooter will shoot a total of 100 shots over a fifteen- stand course. The Lewis Class System will be used to handicap all shooters.

In addition to the featured Sporting Clays Classic 4-man team tournament, there will some additional shooting games including, two - five-stand completions, a Super Sporting Event, a 2-man flurry and a 4-man Flurry.

To-date the Council has 72 4-person teams (288 shooters) coming from 4 states participating in this year’s event, making this tournament one of the largest shooting event of any kind in the Tri-State area. Over 100 scout volunteers have signed up to help run this year’s tournament.

In conjunction with our Sporting Clay Classic shooting events at Camp Don Harrington, the council will host an auction and reception for 650 people on Friday Evening, August 11 in the Heritage Room at the Amarillo Civic Center. All proceeds raised through the weekend’s events will go towards benefiting the Boy Scouting programs of The Golden Spread Council. The Council serves 4100 Youth and Adult members in the top 23 counties of Texas and the 3 counties that make up the panhandle of Oklahoma.
