Grass Fire Breaks Out in North Amarillo

Update, 3:56 p.m.: Fire officials confirm that 800 acres are currently burning Northeast of Amarillo. Only 10% is contained at the moment. It is still moving very face and is very dangerous. Officials say people living in the Masilla Park, El Rancho Road and Web Road areas need to evacuate. Currently the only injury is a Sheriffs Deputy who is being treated for smoke inhalation.

Update, 2:30 p.m.:
Officials say at this time, 3 homes have been evacuated and others may require evacuation. Citizens who evacuate those areas should go to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 316 Valley as a receiving point.

POTTER COUNTY -- We're hearing reports of a large grass fire breaking out in the Willow Creek area near St. Francis Avenue and Eastern Street. We've also heard over the scanner that officials are evacuating residents in the area of Willow Creek and Eastern, though that report is unconfirmed. We have a crew heading to the scene now. We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
