AMARILLO -- A prominent business man is throwing his name in for Texas Agriculture Commissioner.
J Allen Carnes is running for the seat.
He currently owns an agriculture business in Uvalde which ships cotton, grain, and other produce across Texas and the nation.
Carnes has worked on issues concerning the state's water, immigration, food safety, and the farm bill since 2004.
He has also worked alongside our current Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples.
Carnes is member of several organizations including the Texas Farm Bureau and is a director for the Texas Produce Association.
